Head Start

Ready for School, Ready for Life

Head Start is an early childhood development program that offers activities and support to eligible 3 and 4 year old children and their families in classrooms throughout Columbia County, NY.

Children’s readiness for school and beyond is fostered by individualized learning experiences. Through relationships with adults, play, and active learning, children grow and develop. We focus on supporting early learners as they make decisions, build academic skills, develop socially and emotionally, and become part of a classroom community.

Head Start supports and strengthens the parent-child relationships and engages families around children’s learning and development.

Parents and families are supported in achieving their own goals, such as housing stability, continued education, and financial security.

Parent Committees, Head Start Policy Council and other parent engagement opportunities help parents and guardians be their child's first and best teacher!
