The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program offers free tax preparation for individuals and families with low incomes who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
IRS certified staff and community volunteers offer help with special credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Making Work Pay Credit, Dependent Care Credit, and the American Opportunity Tuition Credit.
Tax returns are electronically filed. Individuals taking advantage of the free e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed by paper – even faster when tax refunds are deposited directly into a bank account.
