Weatherization Program

Columbia Opportunities, Inc. is a local Building Performance Institute (BPI) and Environmental Protection Agency Lead Safe contractor that offers the following programs in Columbia County, NY:

Weatherization Assistance Program

This program helps income-eligible households by reducing their energy costs and improving the safety of their homes through energy efficiency measures. Both single-family and multifamily buildings may be weatherized. Program services are available to homeowners, renters and landlords with income eligible tenants. Currently for a family of four to be eligible, their income must be below $49,524 annually. If your income is over this amount you may qualify for EmPower or the Energy Star program.

EmPower New York Program

Sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), this program also assists households with limited income to take control of their energy use.  Columbia Opportunities, Inc., a BPI accredited contractor will evaluate your home and provide energy efficiency services, such as high-efficiency lighting, refrigerator replacement, and insulation, all at no cost to you. Plus, we can show you how to better manage your energy costs. Our goal is to reduce New York's energy use, minimize environmental impact and maintain energy affordability. EmPower New York accomplishes this and it makes your life easier, too.

NYSERDA Energy Star Program

This program works with individuals on a sliding fee scale to install energy savings measures in their home. COI can work with homeowners whose annual income is up to $284,000 per year.  Free energy audits are available if the annual household income is less than $142,000.

COI has over thirty years experience in the auditing/energy conservation field. For more information about these programs, please contact us at (518) 672-7268 or by calling toll free at 1-877-889-3331.
